Why UNM Online?
UNM's Managed Online Programs are designed to provide flexibility for earning a degree. The ability to study where you prefer, around your own schedule, provides convenience for students or working adults. Students can apply and start a program multiple times during the year.
UNM offers a suite of quality online undergraduate degree completion programs and full masters programs at an affordable price regardless of where you live! In-state, out-of-state, or international students can pay the same tuition for the Managed Online Programs.
Academic Integrity and Course Quality
All of the courses in the Managed Online Programs have undergone a rigorous design and review process based upon Quality Matters (QM) standards. The courses are reviewed and updated on a consistent basis and the application of the latest learning technologies provides the best learning experience for the students.
UNM Online subscribes to Quality Matters (QM), a leading online education quality assurance program. QM is a peer-based review and certification program that also provides guidelines for best practices for online course development. Over 900 institutions have subscribed to Quality Matters, including a number of colleges and universities in New Mexico, the United States, and around the world.
UNM’s Online Programs are taught by the same high quality faculty who teach on campus courses.
Accreditation and Compliance
UNM’s Online Programs are fully accredited. The University of New Mexico has been continuously accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) since 1922. Additionally, the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) oversees and regulates all postsecondary institutions operating in New Mexico and recognizes that UNM is authorized to offer programs in post-secondary education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
UNM is a member of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA). SARA is a voluntary agreement among its member states and U.S. territories that established comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education courses and programs. It is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by postsecondary institutions based in another state.
The University of New Mexico cannot confirm whether any particular course or program meets requirements for professional licensure in states other than New Mexico. If you are planning to apply for licensure in a state other than New Mexico after completion of your program, contact that state's appropriate licensing board to determine whether the UNM program meets licensure requirements in that state. If you need assistance finding contact information for your state, or if you need additional information regarding professional licensure, please contact us toll-free at 866-869-6040.
